Ryan Kaercher

Filmmaker, Storyteller 

Ryan Kaercher is an American Filmmaker, originally from Southern Indiana, who graduated from Brooks Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Feature Film Production. Ryan has been actively working in the film industry since 2006.  

 

In late 2012 Ryan and his crew competed in the 48 Hr Film Competition (Los Angeles). Their film THE TIME was nominated for 8 or the 12 awards and went on to win: Best Ensemble Cast, Runner Up Best Actress - Kelly Thiebaud, Best Editor - TJ Young, Best Director - Ryan Kaercher, and Runner Up Best Picture, that was out of 120 or so LA crews. The film also garnered nods in *Best Cinematography - Jason Brewer, Best Sound Design - TJ Young, and Best Use of Required Line.

 

Prior to his 48-hour short Ryan wrote, produced, and directed BAD CALL a short psychological thriller about a young Iraq War veteran suffering from PTSD. BAD CALL was an Official Selection at the 2010 Indie Spirit FF, LA Film Weekend in Beverly Hills, and was featured at the Museum of Ventura County by the Ventura Film Society. 

 

In the early years, after writing and directing numerous short films and video projects, Ryan took the director seat for IN THE CATBIRD SEAT a sync-sound 16mm short film noir with a strong female lead. A film that gained an international audience once it was granted an Official Selection at the 2008 Cannes Short Film Corner.
